Trump Announces Deployment of Additional 5,000 U.S. Troops to Poland

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the United States will deploy an additional 5,000 troops to Poland. This decision comes amid concerns over previous reports that the Pentagon had canceled plans to send 4,000 rotational troops to the European nation.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump made the announcement via a social media post, attributing the decision to his relationship with Polish President Karol Nawrocki. "Based on the successful Election of the now President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, who I was proud to Endorse, and our relationship with him, I am pleased to announce that the United States will be sending an additional 5,000 Troops to Poland," Trump stated on Truth Social.

Karol Nawrocki, a conservative politician whose views are seen as broadly in line with Trump's, assumed office in August 2025. The presence of U.S. troops in Poland typically numbers around 10,000, including both permanent and rotational forces.
