Three Injured in Airplane Fire Evacuation at Busan Airport

Busan: A passenger aircraft caught fire at an international airport in the southeastern city of Busan, with three people sustaining injuries while evacuating.

According to Yonhap News Agency, fire authorities reported that an Air Busan plane, which was scheduled to fly from Gimhae International Airport in Busan to Hong Kong, caught fire at its tail before takeoff around 10:26 p.m. All 169 passengers and seven crew members were evacuated using an inflatable slide.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10:34 p.m. Initially, there were no injuries reported, but fire authorities later confirmed that three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the evacuation process.

The fire, which originated at the tail of the plane, appeared to have spread to the fuselage. A fire official noted that the blaze seemed to have started inside the tail end of the aircraft. The official also mentioned that while it is believed all 176 people have evacuated, a search of the aircraft was underway as a precautionary measure.
