Suspected Arson in Seoul Apartment Leaves One Dead, Six Injured

Seoul: One person was killed and six others were injured in a suspected arson incident at a 21-story apartment building in Seoul, officials reported. The fire occurred at the fourth floor of the apartment building located in Bongcheon-dong at 8:17 a.m., according to police officials.

According to Yonhap News Agency, police identified a man in his 60s as the suspected arsonist. He was found dead in the hallway on the fourth floor. The suspected arsonist is believed to have poured oil inside a pesticide applicator to start the fire. A note was found inside his residence, and police are investigating the exact motive behind the crime.

Among the injured, two residents, estimated to be in their 70s and 80s, sustained full-body burns after plunging to the first floor. Four others experienced difficulty breathing and were transported to a hospital for treatment, according to firefighters. The fire was extinguished nearly an hour and 40 minutes after it was first reported.
