Seoul: The supernatural horror film "Salmokji: Whispering Water" has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the most-watched Korean horror film of all time. This title was previously held by the 2003 film "A Tale of Two Sisters," as indicated by recent data.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "Salmokji" garnered 90,972 admissions from Friday to Sunday, pushing its total audience number to 3.17 million. This surpasses the previous record of 3.14 million admissions held by "A Tale of Two Sisters."

"Salmokji," which premiered on April 8, follows a filming crew led by Soo-in, portrayed by Kim Hye-yoon, who travels to a location to complete a shoot under a tight deadline. However, they find themselves engulfed in an inescapable, swamp-like terror as time progresses. The filming location, Salmokji, is a reservoir in Yesan County, South Chungcheong Province, known among locals for its paranormal reputation and history of ghost sightings.

During the same weekend, foreign films dominated the box office. "Michael" led the chart with 470,375 admissions, followed by "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" and "The Devil Wears Prada 2," which had 123,558 and 120,545 admissions, respectively.
