Apple to Launch Siri AI in South Korea This Month

Accra:Seoul South Korean customers will soon have access to Apple Inc.'s generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered assistant, as the tech giant plans to introduce Korean support for its Siri AI this month, industry sources revealed on Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this latest service expansion follows Apple's beta launch of the new Siri in English in September. The updated Siri AI is described as a significantly more capable and conversational assistant, with features such as personal context understanding, extensive world knowledge, onscreen awareness, and enhanced systemwide app actions.

One example of Siri AI's capabilities is its ability to retrieve a recipe for a dish previously eaten by searching through a user's message logs and providing a link to the recipe. Additionally, Siri AI offers visual intelligence, enabling users to inquire about visual content across various Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.

Apple has reportedly expanded Siri AI's integration with domestic apps and is collaborating with local IT companies, such as Kakao Corp. and Naver Corp., to optimize the service. Despite being powered by Google's Gemini, Apple assures that Siri AI operates within its own security framework and is designed to immediately delete data post-AI workload processing.
