Singapore: Ssangyong Engineering and Construction Co., a South Korean construction firm, announced that it has won a significant contract valued at 340 billion won (US$231 million) to construct a hospital facility in Singapore. The project is part of a collaborative effort with two international partners.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Ssangyong E and C has entered into a joint venture with Japan's Shimizu Corp. and Singapore's Kimly Construction. The consortium has been tasked with an 800 billion-won project commissioned by Singapore's Ministry of Health. This initiative involves the establishment of a comprehensive hospital complex, which will include clinics, offices, and parking facilities.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ssangyong E and C will focus on constructing the outpatient ward of Alexandra Hospital, holding a 40 percent stake in the project that is scheduled to span 37 months. The firm emphasized that this new order reflects its expertise in executing large-scale and complex medical facility projects, as evidenced by its successful completion of the Woodlands Health Campus in Singapore.

The Woodlands Health Campus project, initiated in 2019, was completed over six years, overcoming various challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ssangyong E and C's portfolio in Singapore includes approximately 40 major projects, ranging from hotels to subway infrastructure and other engineering works.
