Fire Erupts at Taean Coal Power Plant, Injuring Two

Taean: A fire erupted at a coal-fired power plant in the western coastal county of Taean, resulting in injuries to two individuals, as reported by fire officials. The incident occurred at the Taean Thermal Power Plant and was accompanied by sounds resembling an explosion, prompting an emergency response.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the authorities received the report at 2:43 p.m., detailing both the fire and the explosion-like sounds. Fire officials promptly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze. The two injured workers sustained burns and were swiftly moved for medical treatment. Officials have indicated that their injuries are believed not to be life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations by police and fire authorities suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a gas explosion on the first floor of one of the power plant's buildings. In response to the incident, workers at the facility were evacuated as a precautionary measure, and authorities are continuing to check for any additional casualties.
