South Koreans Arrested in Nepal for Violating Tourist Visa Terms

Siena:Twenty-four South Koreans have been arrested for participating in a religious program while visiting Nepal on tourist visas.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the arrests occurred after the individuals took part in a religious training program at New Covenant College, a Christian educational institution located in the Morang district of Koshi province in eastern Nepal.

New Covenant College, supported by a South Korea-based Christian missionary organization, offers religious studies and education. Nepalese police arrested the South Koreans after suspecting that their activities might have violated the conditions of their tourist visas, which do not permit participation in religious education or missionary activities.

The South Korean foreign ministry has stated that it is aware of the arrests and has been maintaining communication with Nepalese authorities through its embassy in Nepal. The ministry has refrained from disclosing further details, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to protect the privacy of those involved.
