Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung is planning to move to the official presidential residence at Cheong Wa Dae this year, as stated by an official on Monday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee and First Lady Kim Hea Kyung are currently residing at the official residence in Seoul's Yongsan Ward, which was used by former President Yoon Suk Yeol. This is a temporary arrangement while refurbishments take place at Cheong Wa Dae.
Upon taking office in 2022, former President Yoon had relocated the presidential office and residence from Cheong Wa Dae to Yongsan. However, following his inauguration last year, President Lee decided to return both the office and residence to their previous location. The presidential office completed its move back to Cheong Wa Dae in December.
The presidential official mentioned that preparations are underway to enable the move within the year, following the completion of building commissioning and moving preparations. However, no specific schedule has been fixed for the residence move to Cheong Wa Dae yet.
