Seoul: The South Korean government has dispatched a joint emergency response team to Nepal to aid in the search and rescue operations for nine South Korean nationals who have gone missing following severe floods in the region, the foreign ministry announced on Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the missing individuals include six employees from Doosan Enerbility Co., a plant construction company, and three employees from Korea South-East Power Co., a state-run power generation company. These individuals disappeared while working at a hydropower plant construction site in Nepal's Rasuwa district, which was heavily impacted by a flash flood and mudslide that occurred on Wednesday.

The emergency response team's deployment underscores the urgency and gravity of the situation as efforts continue to locate the missing individuals amidst challenging conditions. The South Korean government is collaborating closely with local authorities in Nepal to enhance the efficiency of the rescue operations.
