South Korean Archer Park Jung-yoon Reflects on Return to Sport and Asian Games Success

Nagoya:Park Jung-yoon first entered competitive archery in elementary school but quit as she entered middle school, seeking to explore other pursuits. At 29, Park reflects on her decision to return to archery at 25, initially joining an amateur club before committing to the national team. Her efforts culminated in qualifying for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where she secured two medals: a silver in the mixed team event and a bronze in the women's team event.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Park expressed no regrets over her choices, stating her gratitude for pursuing her passion. Her Asian Games journey started with a bronze in the women's team event alongside teammates Kang Yeon-seo and Park Ye-rin, narrowly defeating Chinese Taipei after a close semifinal loss to India.

In the mixed team final, Park and Choi Yong-hee faced India's Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav, ultimately losing in a shoot-off. Despite the loss, Park valued the outcomes and praised her performance, highlighting her ability to control competition nerves.

India's dominance in previous Asian Games was challenged by South Korea's efforts, and Park believes the gap is closing. She remains optimistic about future encounters with India, acknowledging their past successes but confident in her team's growing competitiveness.

Park aims to add to her medal tally as she advances to the quarterfinals on Thursday, with hopes of securing a gold medal to complement her achievements.
