South Korea Wins Bronze in Women’s Compound Archery at Asian Games

Okazaki:South Korea secured the bronze medal in the women's compound archery team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, defeating Chinese Taipei in a closely contested match.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean team, consisting of Park Jung-yoon, Park Ye-rin, and Kang Yeon-seo, overcame Chinese Taipei with a narrow 229-228 victory at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square. The event took place approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Nagoya, the main host city for the Games.

In the competition, both teams shot strong in the initial stages. South Korea achieved a perfect score of 60 in the first end while Chinese Taipei scored 59. The teams were evenly matched in the second end, both scoring 58. Chinese Taipei took a slight advantage in the third end with a 56-55 score, bringing the total to a tie at 173-173. However, during the final end, South Korea scored a total of 229 points. Chinese Taipei's Huang I-Jou needed a score of 10 to win or a 9 to force a shoot-off but managed only an 8, sealing the victory for South Korea.

Earlier, South Korea narrowly lost to India in the semifinals by 234-233, which led them to compete for the bronze medal. The archery events at the Games are just beginning, and this victory marks a positive start for South Korea.
