Amman: South Korea head coach Hong Myung-bo expressed his desire for an improved performance around the goal after his team played to a second consecutive draw against Palestine in the Asian World Cup qualifiers. According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea, ranked 22nd, managed a 1-1 draw against No. 100 Palestine at the Amman International Stadium, a neutral ground chosen due to Palestine's domestic conditions. Son Heung-min scored the equalizer for South Korea in the 16th minute, which turned out to be their only goal despite having several opportunities. Prior to the match, South Korea was on a four-match winning streak in Group B of the third qualifying round, having played a goalless draw against Palestine earlier in Seoul on September 5. Coach Hong had promised improvements at the pre-match press conference on Monday but admitted post-match that the outcome was disappointing. Hong acknowledged the physical challenges faced by his team after back-to-back away matches in the Middle East, including a 3 -1 victory over Kuwait last Thursday. He apologized to fans for not securing a win in their final match of the year and emphasized the need for improvement. Hong mentioned that the team would review their six matches in this round to prepare better for next year. The coach pointed out the team's lack of a decisive finish in the attacking third. "We've developed several options to create scoring chances in a short time," Hong stated. "But we've struggled to convert those chances against teams employing a low defensive block like Palestine. We need to improve in that aspect." Hong also praised Palestine for their performance, noting they were the only team in Group B not to have lost to South Korea. "They battled hard throughout the match and proved to be a good team," he concluded.
