Seoul: Tottenham Hotspur's South Korean captain Son Heung-min announced on Saturday his decision to leave the Premier League club this summer. The announcement was made during a press conference in Seoul, ahead of Tottenham's preseason match against Newcastle United scheduled for Sunday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Son expressed the difficulty of the decision, stating, "This was not an easy decision, but I have decided to leave the club this summer." He also mentioned his intention to enjoy the upcoming match, adding, "I will try my best to have a fun match tomorrow."
With the Premier League season approaching, Son, who is in the final year of his contract with Tottenham, has been the subject of extensive transfer speculation. Reports suggest a potential move to Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer, with interest also coming from clubs in the Saudi Pro League targeting the South Korean footballer.
