Livigno: Snowboarder Lee Chaeun and figure skater Cha Jun-hwan will chase medals in their respective events at the Winter Olympics in northern Italy on Friday. According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee is among 12 competitors in the men's snowboard halfpipe final, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Livigno Snow Park, located about 140 kilometers north of Milan. The competitors will each perform three runs, with the best score determining the final standings. The highest and lowest scores from the six judges will be excluded. The athletes will be judged based on the difficulty, height, and execution of their acrobatic moves on the 22-foot, U-shaped ramp.

Also on Friday, Cha Jun-hwan will perform his free skate in the men's singles figure skating event at Milano Ice Skating Arena in Milan. He ranked sixth in Tuesday's short program with a season-best score of 92.72 points and is trailing 9.83 points behind third-place competitor Adam Siao Him Fa of France. Cha, who finished fifth at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, achieving the highest placement ever by a South Korean male figure skater, aims to surpass his previous record this time.

In other events on Friday, the women's curling tournament will see South Korea face Britain at Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo, approximately 260 kilometers northeast of Milan.
