Silicon valley: SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won met with Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang at a Korean fried chicken restaurant in Silicon Valley last week, with Chey's eldest daughter and vice president of SK Biopharmaceuticals Co., Chey Yoon-chung, also present, industry sources revealed.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting took place on Thursday (U.S. time) and focused on potential cooperation in the artificial intelligence industry, specifically in the areas of chips and biotechnology. The choice of a Korean-style restaurant as the venue mirrored a similar meeting Huang had in October with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung and Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong in Seoul.

During their two-hour discussion, Chey and Huang are believed to have talked about supply plans for HBM4, the next generation high-bandwidth memory expected to be utilized in Nvidia's forthcoming AI accelerator, known as Vera Rubin. Additionally, the leaders may have explored opportunities to collaborate on developing the AI ecosystem in South Korea.

Chey has been in the United States since earlier this month, engaging with executives from major tech companies, as noted by industry sources.
