Gyeongju: SK Group, a prominent South Korean conglomerate specializing in sectors from chips to defense, announced plans to reveal its vision for artificial intelligence (AI) development during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. This initiative is part of the group's broader strategy to foster a global AI ecosystem.
According to Yonhap News Agency, SK Group will host the Future Tech Forum AI at the Gyeongju Expo Grand Park. This event, scheduled from October 28 to 31, aims to gather government officials and leading executives from major technology firms, including notable participants like U.S. AI chipmaker Nvidia and OpenAI, the developer behind ChatGPT.
The forum serves as an official side event of the APEC CEO Summit, which coincides with the main APEC summit. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won is set to deliver a keynote address on October 28, where he will propose strategies to establish sustainable AI ecosystems across Asia-Pacific nations.
On the same day, SK Group plans to introduce its AI data center solutions. These solutions are designed by integrating technologies from its core affiliates, including SK hynix Inc., SK Telecom Co., and SK Enmove Co.
Throughout the year, SK Group has intensified its efforts to create a comprehensive AI ecosystem that encompasses semiconductors, energy, and its A.Dot AI service. The APEC summit is scheduled to take place in Gyeongju from October 31 to November 1, with prominent attendees like U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping expected to participate.
