Daegu:An airplane passenger received a suspended prison sentence for attempting to open an emergency door during a flight from Bangkok to Daegu last year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 38-year-old passenger, identified by the surname Park, was charged with violating the Aviation Security Act. Park attempted to open the door's lever latch while the T'way Air aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 37,000 feet (11.3 km) on November 22, 2025.
The Daegu District Court sentenced Park to four months in prison, suspended for two years, along with 80 hours of community service. The court considered several factors in determining the punishment, noting that Park had only attempted to open the door once and that the action posed minimal risk as the door was unlikely to open.
Since the incident, T'way Air has been renamed Trinity Airways.
