Seoul Stocks Rise on Nvidia Optimism.

Seoul: South Korean stocks traded higher late Wednesday morning, led by gains in techs and autos ahead of U.S. AI chip giant Nvidia's quarterly results. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index had risen 10.95 points, or 0.44 percent, to 2,482.9 as of 11:20 a.m. According to Yonhap News Agency, overnight, the Nasdaq composite rose more than 1 percent on a 4.9 percent jump in Nvidia as the chipmaker is set to release its third-quarter results Wednesday (U.S. time). In Seoul, SK hynix, the dominant supplier of high bandwidth memory to Nvidia, gained 1.64 percent, and Hanmi Semiconductor, an equipment manufacturer, rose 1.49 percent. Top carmaker Hyundai Motor added 1.39 percent, and its sister company Kia jumped 3.67 percent. Leading battery maker LG Energy Solution advanced 1.65 percent, and steel giant POSCO Holdings climbed 2.06 percent. However, chip giant Samsung Electronics fell 1.78 percent. The local currency was trading at 1,392.35 won against the U.S. dollar at 11:20 a.m., down 1.45 won from the previous session.
