Seoul: The Seoul Central District Court has acquitted Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong in connection with the controversial 2015 merger of two Samsung affiliates, Cheil Industries Inc. and Samsung C and T Corp. The merger was allegedly conducted to help Lee consolidate control over South Korea's largest conglomerate.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the court's decision marks a significant development in a case that has drawn substantial public and legal attention.
