Seoul: Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon met with Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang in Seoul on Monday to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at nurturing the local physical artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, as reported by the science ministry.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting was part of Huang's four-day visit to Seoul, which commenced on Friday. During his visit, Huang has also engaged with executives from South Korea's major conglomerates involved in the AI supply chain, alongside researchers and startup representatives within the sector.

Bae and Huang reiterated the importance of generating tangible outcomes from the partnership established last year between South Korea and Nvidia, coinciding with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting. The science minister also urged Huang to ensure the seamless supply of approximately 260,000 advanced chips from Nvidia, a commitment made during the APEC event. Additionally, Bae sought the company's backing in South Korea's initiatives to construct an AI factory leveraging Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform.

The discussions further encompassed collaborations within the physical AI domain. Bae expressed optimism that Nvidia's forthcoming AI research and development center in Seoul would evolve into a pivotal base for enhancing South Korea's partnership with the U.S. chipmaker, as highlighted by the science ministry.
