Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. has announced the release of its new one-way cassette air conditioner system in Southeast Asian countries, marking a strategic move to expand its footprint in the regional business-to-business air conditioning solutions market. The newly launched ceiling-mounted air conditioner stands out with its compact design, featuring a height of only 135 millimeters, which facilitates easier installation and maximizes space efficiency. The unit disperses air in a single direction and comes equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, allowing users to connect seamlessly to Samsung's SmartThings platform.
According to Yonhap News Agency, users who connect the air conditioner to the SmartThings app can leverage the artificial intelligence (AI) energy-saving mode, which has the potential to reduce energy consumption by up to 20 percent. Additionally, the Bixby voice assistance feature enables users to manage functions such as indoor temperature and humidity effortlessly through voice commands.
Samsung aims to target high-end residential complexes, public facilities, luxury resorts, and hotels in Southeast Asia with its range of system air conditioning products. In 2024, the company reported that sales of its system air conditioners in the region surged by over 20 percent compared to the previous year, with the one-way cassette model alone experiencing a sales increase of more than 35 percent.
