Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. has announced the global launch of its new commercial e-paper display for businesses, crafted using bio-based materials. This innovative product is designed to offer high resolution and low power consumption, making it a practical solution for modern business needs.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 13-inch Samsung Color E-Paper features an ultraslim design, measuring 17.9 millimeters in thickness and weighing 0.9 kilograms, including the battery. Samsung highlights the display's advanced digital ink technology and ultralow power usage as key benefits for businesses seeking alternatives to traditional printed signage.
The company further explains that the display can be managed via a smartphone application, eliminating the need for a separate remote control. Notably, the e-paper display does not consume power when the image on the screen remains unchanged.
Kim Hyoung-jae, vice president of Samsung's visual display business, emphasized the company's dedication to innovation, pointing out the use of phytoplankton-based bio-resin in the display's construction. This move underscores Samsung's commitment to advancing both display technology and sustainable materials.
Omdia's industry research indicates that Samsung Electronics held a 36.2 percent share of the global digital signage shipments in the third quarter of 2025, showcasing the company's significant market presence.
