Seoul: The government has announced plans to allocate 70 percent of this year's budget for supporting the employment of individuals with disabilities within the first half of the year, the budget ministry disclosed on Friday. This initiative aims to enhance employment opportunities and provide necessary support to people with disabilities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Planning and Budget has laid out a strategy to execute 70 percent of the annual 1.14 trillion-won (US$793.4 million) budget between January and June. As part of this plan, 130 billion won has already been utilized this month to fund a program that offers employment incentives and vocational training support.

Moreover, the government has introduced a new program this year, which offers monthly subsidies ranging from 350,000 won to 450,000 won per worker. This initiative targets companies with 50 to 99 employees that do not meet mandatory hiring quotas but are committed to increasing the employment of individuals with severe disabilities. The disbursement of these payments is scheduled to commence in April, as confirmed by the ministry.
