Seoul: Samsung Electronics announced plans to showcase a premium refrigerator that incorporates Google's artificial intelligence model, Gemini, capable of recognizing food items stored inside using a built-in camera. The South Korean tech leader will reveal the Bespoke AI refrigerator in the United States during the First Look event preceding CES, set to commence next month in Las Vegas. This marks the first instance of a home appliance being equipped with Gemini.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the new refrigerator can identify a significantly broader range of food products compared to previous models, which were only able to recognize a limited number of items. The integration of Gemini is designed to assist consumers in better managing their ingredients by recommending recipes or aiding in grocery shopping.

Samsung also plans to implement Gemini in its wine refrigerators, allowing these appliances to identify labels and provide stored bottle lists to users. Moon Jong-seung, head of Samsung's digital appliances division, stated that the advanced AI vision, enabled through collaboration with Google, will allow Samsung to offer a unique food experience.
