Seoul: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been actively attending ceremonies to open new factories for the second consecutive day, as reported by state media on Sunday. The events, aimed at boosting regional development, saw Kim accompanied by his daughter, Ju-ae, underscoring her emerging public presence.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim visited factories in the eastern coastal city of Sinpho on Friday. This followed his participation in a ribbon-cutting ceremony the previous day at a new plant in Jangyon County. The Korean Central News Agency released photographs showing Kim's daughter, Ju-ae, alongside him, marking her first public appearance with her father since they toured another set of factories earlier in the week.

Kim expressed enthusiasm about Sinpho's development, stating that the city now possesses "reliable potential and a strong driving force for its independent development." He reiterated the ruling Workers' Party's commitment to pursuing more ambitious regional development goals. During the visit, Kim also inspected Sinpho's offshore farm and received a briefing on aquaculture processing, as reported by the KCNA.

This series of factory openings aligns with North Korea's ongoing regional development policy, initiated last year, designed to reduce income disparities between urban and rural areas.
