Seoul: Samsung SDS Co. has announced a 7.6 percent decline in its second-quarter net income, totaling 176 billion won (US$128.2 million). The figures were disclosed on Thursday, indicating a downturn from the previous year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, despite the drop in net profits, Samsung SDS recorded an increase in operating income for the April-June period, which rose by 4.2 percent to 230.2 billion won. Sales also experienced a 4.2 percent increase, reaching 3.51 trillion won. However, these results did not meet market expectations, as analysts had anticipated a net profit average of 188.6 billion won, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
The decline in net income highlights the challenges Samsung SDS faces in maintaining profitability amid fluctuating market conditions. Nevertheless, the rise in operating income and sales suggests potential areas of growth within the company's operations.
