Samsung SDI Unveils New ESS Solutions at U.S. Exhibition

Las vegas: Samsung SDI Co., a major South Korean battery maker, on Tuesday showcased next-generation energy storage systems (ESS) with improved energy density at an exhibition held in the United States. The company introduced its latest products at Renewable Energy Plus 2025, being held in Las Vegas from Tuesday to Thursday (local time), highlighting its local production capabilities and customized ESS solutions for the U.S. market, the company said in a release.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the portfolio includes Samsung Battery Box (SBB), an integrated ESS solution consisting of battery cells, modules, and racks inside a 20-foot container. Samsung SDI introduced the SBB 1.7, which boasts a 17 percent improvement in energy density compared with the previous SBB 1.5 model. The company also showcased the SBB 2.0, which features enhanced safety and a competitive price through the use of lithium iron phosphate.

"With our extensive know-how in prismatic batteries and robust local manufacturing capabilities, we are committed to further enhancing our competitiveness in the U.S., the world's largest ESS market," an official from Samsung SDI said.
