Samsung Joins Global Consortium for Commercialization of 6G Network

Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. announced its participation in a global consortium led by U.S. mobile carrier Verizon Communications Inc. to commercialize sixth-generation (6G) networks. The South Korean tech giant will be part of the Verizon 6G Innovation Forum, joining other industry heavyweights such as Meta Platforms Inc., Ericsson, Nokia Corp., and Qualcomm Inc., as stated in the company's release.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the consortium's objective is to collaboratively build the 6G ecosystem through prototype development and field tests. Samsung Electronics also aims to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to develop mobile telecom technologies that provide new user experiences.

Jeong Jun-guk, head of Samsung's communication research center, stated, "Samsung Electronics will work closely with global big-tech firms to verify AI and telecom technologies that will lead the future wireless industry and bring forward the 6G era, offering innovative user experiences."
