Seoul:Samsung Heavy Industries Co. announced winning a 307.4 billion-won (US$227.6 million) contract to construct two very large gas carriers (VLGCs).

According to Yonhap News Agency, these vessels are slated for delivery to an undisclosed shipowner located in Bermuda by February 2030.

This latest contract boosts Samsung Heavy's total orders to $7.5 billion this year for the construction of 44 commercial vessels, exceeding its annual target of $5.7 billion.

Including two floating liquefied natural gas production, storage, and offloading facilities, Samsung Heavy's cumulative orders for the year have reached $11.9 billion, which represents 86 percent of its overall annual target.
