Busan:Defense Minister Kang Shin-chul visited the Republic of Korea Fleet's command and control center to assess military readiness and motivate the troops, as reported by his office.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kang's visit took place in the southeastern port city of Busan, where he was briefed on the current maritime operational situation by the defense ministry.
During his visit, Kang highlighted the importance of the waters guarded by the troops, describing them as the source of South Korea's national strength and a "sea of victory" that has been protected by past generations. He urged the troops to respond decisively to any enemy provocations.
Additionally, Kang was informed about the preparations for the upcoming deployment of the 49th contingent of the Cheonghae unit to Somalia next month. The unit is engaged in an anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden near the Somali coast, and Kang encouraged the troops to approach their mission with the mindset of protecting both the lives of the people and international peace.
