Munich: Samsung Display Co. announced on Monday that it will introduce a new digital cockpit solution aimed at enhancing driving safety and convenience this week, as part of its strategy to broaden its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) offerings. The South Korean display manufacturer will participate in the IAA Mobility 2025, which begins Tuesday in Munich and runs for six days, to present a range of innovative technologies and products.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Display plans to showcase a digital cockpit specifically designed for self-driving vehicles, featuring several OLED displays, including a "moving cluster display." This display functions as a dashboard and retracts when the vehicle is parked, providing essential driving information while contributing to interior aesthetics with its space-saving design.
The cockpit will feature a 14.4-inch L-shaped display positioned between the driver and passenger, utilizing OLED's flexibility and curved design to allow users to manage temperature and other vehicle settings. Additionally, Samsung Display will introduce its new DRIVE brand for automotive OLED products during the event. DRIVE stands for "design differentiation, robust reliability, intelligent safety, visual excellence, and expanded extendable," reflecting the company's dedication to advancing the automotive sector as a key growth area.
"We will meet with global customers to introduce DRIVE and deepen their understanding of the stability and differentiated value of Samsung OLEDs," stated Lee Joo-hyung, head of the mobile display business at Samsung Display.
