Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong Travels to Milan for 2026 Winter Olympics Meetings

Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong departed for Italy on Thursday for meetings with international business and sports officials on the occasion of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, industry sources said. Lee left Gimpo International Airport in western Seoul earlier in the day. The Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics is set to kick off Friday (local time) for a 17-day run.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung has been a Worldwide Olympic Partner since 1998. The chairman is widely expected to meet business and sports officials during his stay in Italy. The trip follows his previous visit to the Paris Olympics in 2024, when Lee attended a gathering of global business leaders at the Elysee Palace at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Last week, Samsung Electronics showcased its Galaxy Z Flip 7 Olympic Edition, which will be provided to around 3,800 athletes from 90 countries participating in the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics.
