Seoul: Defense officials from South Korea, the United States, and Japan conducted a discussion-based exercise earlier this week to address military threats from North Korea. The nations committed to maintaining their security cooperation, as reported by Seoul's defense ministry on Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the tabletop exercise and a working group meeting were held in conjunction with the Defense Trilateral Talks (DTT) in Seoul on Tuesday and Wednesday. This exercise marked the first occurrence of a DTT-linked tabletop exercise in five years.

In a joint statement, the three countries expressed their intention to uphold the momentum of trilateral security cooperation. However, they did not disclose further details about the exercise.

Seoul's defense ministry emphasized that the gathering highlighted the steadfast nature of the trilateral security cooperation among the three nations under the U.S. Trump administration. The 15th round of the DTT took place in Seoul in September last year, where the countries reaffirmed their commitment to trilateral security efforts.
