S. Korea Targets Increased Foreign Investment with Hong Kong Road Show.

Seoul: South Korea's financial firms and local governments have launched an initiative to attract more foreign investors through an overseas investor relations (IR) session. The country is gearing up for policy reforms aimed at enhancing corporate governance and safeguarding shareholder interests, as announced by the nation's financial watchdog. According to Yonhap News Agency, the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), along with local governments like the Busan metropolitan government and various financial firms, organized the investor roadshow in Hong Kong. The event, held on Wednesday, saw participation from over 200 high-ranking officials from global investment firms, including HSBC. FSS chief Lee Bok-hyun highlighted the ongoing efforts to foster a more shareholder-friendly corporate culture and to upgrade the capital market infrastructure to align with global standards. Lee emphasized that South Korea is actively pursuing initiatives aimed at improving capital market performance and, more broadly, at b uilding a robust and healthy economy. Lee further noted that South Korea is well-prepared to manage economic challenges while remaining vigilant to global policy changes that could impact domestic economic and financial conditions, ensuring effective responses to such developments.
