S. Korea Knocked Out by Morocco in FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16

Rancagua: South Korea lost to Morocco in the round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. Coached by Lee Chang-won, the young Taegeuk Warriors only managed a late penalty in their 2-1 defeat at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua, Chile.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this marked South Korea's fourth consecutive appearance in the knockout stage of the U-20 tournament. South Korea finished third in Group B, accumulating four points from a win, a draw, and a loss, which allowed them to qualify for the round of 16 as the third-best team among four No. 3 seeds.

During the match against Morocco, defender Shin Min-ha was unfortunate to score an own goal just eight minutes into the game when Yassir Zabiri's bicycle kick deflected off his leg. Zabiri then went on to double Morocco's lead in the 58th minute with a goal of his own.

Kim Tae-won managed to score a penalty during second-half stoppage time, which was South Korea's only goal in the match. Despite having 14 shot attempts compared to Morocco's eight, South Korea only put three shots on target, while Morocco had two.
