S. Korea Joins U.S.-Led Cyber Flag Exercise Amid Security Concerns

Seoul: South Korea's Cyber Operation Command will participate in a U.S.-led multinational cyber exercise this week, the defense ministry in Seoul announced Monday. This comes amidst escalating security threats from North Korea across various domains.

According to Yonhap News Agency, seven personnel from the command are set to join the five-day Cyber Flag exercise beginning Monday in the U.S. state of Virginia. This marks the fourth instance of South Korea's participation since it first joined the exercise in 2022.

The exercise will include the "Five Eyes" intelligence alliance, consisting of the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, along with other partner countries. The aim is to enhance their joint capabilities to counter cyber attacks through practical training exercises.

Looking ahead, the command plans to strengthen bilateral relations with its U.S. counterpart in the cyber domain. This will be achieved through combined drills and the exchange of personnel and technology.
