Tokyo: Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol will engage in discussions with his Japanese counterpart, Satsuki Katayama, later this week in Tokyo. The meeting aims to explore avenues for enhancing financial and economic collaboration, as confirmed by Koo's office on Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 10th Korea-Japan finance ministers' meeting is scheduled for Saturday, as reported by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. During the meeting, Minister Koo intends to outline the South Korean government's primary policy directions, including its vision for transitioning to artificial intelligence and initiatives to boost the country's capital markets.
The discussions will encompass various topics, such as the current situation in the Middle East and the economic conditions and policy responses of both nations. Prior to the meeting, Minister Koo is set to host an investment briefing on Friday for Japanese investors, aimed at promoting investment opportunities in the South Korean economy.
The last finance ministers' meeting between the two countries took place in Tokyo in June 2024.
