Seoul: Eight South Koreans were unaccounted for and 10 others were stranded following a massive flood in Nepal, Seoul's foreign ministry said Wednesday. The missing individuals were employees of Korea South-East Power Co. and plant builder Doosan Enerbility Co., involved in constructing a hydropower plant in Nepal's Rasuwa district.

According to Yonhap News Agency, another 10 South Koreans affiliated with Doosan Enerbility were stranded in the area and awaiting rescue. The Nepalese government has dispatched a helicopter for their evacuation, as per the ministry's statement.

The South Korean Embassy in Nepal promptly informed the Nepalese government about the missing individuals and urged for an immediate and active search and rescue operation. President Lee Jae Myung, after being briefed on the situation, instructed authorities to "mobilize all available resources" for a swift search and rescue mission, according to a notice to the press by senior presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung.

The devastating flash floods occurred near the Nepal-Tibet border, resulting in 19 fatalities and leaving hundreds missing, while causing widespread destruction to villages and infrastructure. Foreign media reports highlighted that a total of 384 tourists, including 291 foreigners, were reported missing, with 105 of them being Indian nationals.
