S. Korea and France Address North Korean Military Threats in Seoul Talks

Seoul: Senior military officials from South Korea and France have raised concerns over the growing threats posed by North Korea, amid its increasing military cooperation with Russia. This was discussed during the regular bilateral military exchange talks held in Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Maj. Gen. Kwon Young-min, chief of the directorate of strategic planning at South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and Brig. Gen. Patrick Vaglio, his French counterpart, reviewed various security issues. They expressed apprehensions about the modernization of North Korea's military capabilities and emphasized the importance of collaborating with the international community to counter these threats.

During the meeting, Brig. Gen. Vaglio highlighted that the talks provided an opportunity to explore detailed measures for implementing security cooperation between nations in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region. The two officials agreed on the necessity of a unified approach to address the challenges posed by North Korea's military advancements.

The bilateral talks, which began in 2002, marked their 19th session this year. The next round of discussions is scheduled to take place in Paris next year, continuing the ongoing dialogue between the two nations on security cooperation and strategic planning.
