South korea: South Korea's customs authorities announced that they have engaged in discussions with their Chinese counterparts to establish concrete measures for cooperation in protecting intellectual property rights.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting took place on Tuesday in Beijing and was a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding signed by both nations the previous month. This agreement came on the heels of a summit between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Chinese President Xi Jinping, aimed at enhancing cooperation on intellectual property protection.

During the meeting, the customs agencies from both countries agreed to elevate their current working-level consultations on intellectual property protection to director general-level talks. The first of these sessions is scheduled to occur in South Korea during an upcoming visit by Chinese officials.

China has increased its enforcement against counterfeit goods bearing South Korean brands and has committed to sharing the results of these enforcement efforts with South Korea, as stated by the Korea Customs Service (KCS).

With the information provided by China, South Korea plans to enhance the accuracy of its counterfeit crackdowns. This will include enabling the early identification of fake goods and suspending customs clearance when necessary.
