Daejeon: The restoration rate for the government's online services, which were disrupted by a data center fire on September 26, has exceeded 30 percent, authorities confirmed on Friday. As of midnight on Thursday, 214 out of 709 online administrative services impacted by the fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) in Daejeon had been restored, achieving a restoration rate of 30.2 percent, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the restored services include the Public Procurement Service's next-generation comprehensive shopping mall, the interior ministry's central permanent records management system, the finance ministry's National Assembly business support system, and the land ministry's real estate administration intelligence system. These services are critical to the functioning of various government operations and their recovery marks significant progress.
During the extended Chuseok holiday week, which began on October 3, a total of 47 systems were successfully restored. The incident originated from a lithium-ion battery explosion in a server room at the NIRS on September 26, with the fire being completely extinguished the following day. The ongoing restoration efforts are crucial in ensuring the full recovery of all affected services.
