Seoul: Nationwide rail operations disrupted by the collapse of an overpass in Seoul this week will fully resume Sunday, the Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) said Saturday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, KORAIL completed recovery work using all available resources and will restore normal operations on all train lines beginning Sunday. The disruption was caused by a section of the Seosomun Overpass in central Seoul, which collapsed on Tuesday during an on-site safety inspection. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals and injuries to three others.
KORAIL officials diligently carried out overnight repairs after the Seoul city government concluded demolition work at the accident site on Friday. In preparation for the resumption of services, the operator also conducted safety inspections, which included test runs of maintenance vehicles and trains. This comprehensive approach ensured the safe return of all serviced trains to operation.
