_:Mexico City A presidential official has committed to a swift and comprehensive investigation into recent explosions in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that injured three South Korean soldiers.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the official made these remarks in Mexico City on Thursday while accompanying President Lee Jae Myung on a state visit to Mexico. The explosions, suspected to be mine-related, occurred on Monday, leading to injuries and prompting a forensic analysis to determine the origin of the mines.
The investigation aims to ascertain whether the mines were planted by North Korea or if another cause is responsible. The official emphasized the need to identify the type of mines involved and to clarify the circumstances surrounding their presence.
The inquiry is being conducted in close cooperation with the United Nations Command due to the hazardous nature of the new reconnaissance route where the explosions took place. The official assured that there would be no cover-up and stressed the importance of promptly releasing the findings to the public.
