Presidential Office Seeks Meeting Between Yoon and Trump During South America Trip.

Seoul: President Yoon Suk Yeol's office has been actively reaching out to the aides of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to organize a meeting between the two leaders during Yoon's upcoming trip to South America, a senior presidential official announced. According to Yonhap News Agency, President Yoon is set to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru and will also participate in the Group of 20 summits in Brazil from November 14-21. Discussions about a possible meeting with Trump are ongoing, although no final decisions have been confirmed yet. A senior official mentioned that Yoon's office has been engaging in close communication with Trump's team regarding the potential meeting. The official emphasized that while the dialogue is ongoing, a definitive schedule has not been determined. President Yoon noted that he and Trump had agreed to meet at an early date during a recent phone call. This initiative aligns with South Korean officials and lawmakers' efforts to engage with Trump's inne r circle. They are preparing for possible changes in trade policies and considering increased financial contributions for U.S. troops stationed in South Korea.
