Ulsan:President Lee Jae Myung has commanded authorities to take firm action against a car battery manufacturer facing allegations of misleading workers into receiving injections purportedly to eliminate heavy metals from their bodies. These injections were allegedly used to obscure hazardous lead levels on the factory's production line, as stated by his spokesperson.
According to Yonhap News Agency, DN Automotive, a prominent car battery manufacturer in Ulsan, is accused of deceiving its employees by presenting the shots as "vitamin injections" prior to their medical examinations. The labor ministry recently decided to refer the company to the police for further investigation, prompting President Lee to express strong disapproval over the company's ability to pass a work environment assessment despite the detection of lead levels that were five times higher than permissible.
President Lee has described the situation as a grave violation of human rights, criticizing DN Automotive for endangering its workers' health by concealing the true nature of the injections and the exposure to harmful substances. He has called for a meticulous investigation by the labor ministry and relevant agencies to determine the precise level of harmful substance exposure, the administration of the injections, and any potential cover-up of medical examination results.
Furthermore, President Lee instructed authorities to implement stringent measures if legal violations are identified and urged a thorough inspection of other manufacturing facilities to prevent similar incidents, ensuring the protection of workers' health and human rights.
