Police Raid Muan Airport and Jeju Air Offices Following Fatal Crash

MUAN: Police conducted raids at Muan International Airport, the headquarters of Jeju Air, and other relevant sites in connection with a catastrophic plane crash that resulted in the deaths of 179 individuals.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Jeonnam Provincial Police undertook search and seizure operations targeting the airport in southwest South Korea, as well as Jeju Air's Seoul office and the local Muan office of the Busan Regional Office of Aviation. The actions were part of an ongoing investigation into the crash of a Jeju Air passenger jet, which met disaster upon attempting a belly landing at Muan International Airport.

The search operations were authorized under a warrant citing charges of professional negligence resulting in death. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday when the Jeju Air flight, originating from Bangkok, collided with the outer wall of the airport during its landing attempt. Out of the 181 individuals on board, only two survived the crash.

Authorities are focusing on uncovering potential lapses in safety protocols and operational procedures that may have contributed to the accident. The investigation aims to hold accountable any parties whose negligence might have played a role in the deadly crash.
