Taipei: Jensen Huang, the chief executive officer of Nvidia Corp., met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won in Taipei to discuss potential collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) memory. The meeting was confirmed by SK Group on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting took place as both executives were in Taipei for Computex, a major technology trade show in Asia. SK Group's Facebook account highlighted that the meeting was significant in light of SK hynix reaching a market capitalization of US$1 trillion, with both leaders sharing the milestone's importance.
The discussions provided a platform to review past collaborative achievements in AI memory and reaffirmed their dedication to advancing AI infrastructure. Jensen Huang also expressed interest in robotics as a potential investment area in South Korea ahead of his scheduled visit to the country later this week.
Huang's itinerary includes arriving in Seoul on Thursday night, with meetings planned on Friday with key figures from major South Korean conglomerates. Expected attendees include Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver's board chairman Lee Hae-jin. Hyundai Motor Group's Executive Chair Euisun Chung is reportedly considering joining the discussions, according to industry insiders.
Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NC Corp., is also anticipated to meet with Huang on Sunday. Business analysts suggest these discussions might expand beyond AI semiconductor cooperation to encompass robotics and physical AI, a field that focuses on integrating AI with real-world machines.
Huang's previous visit to Seoul in October gained attention when he dined with Samsung's Lee Jae-yong and Chung, enjoying Korean fried chicken and beer. Public interest in Huang's upcoming visit is evident, with an online map tracking his movements and related news drawing attention, created by an individual named "Jun."
