North Korea Highlights Strong Comradeship with Russia at Diplomatic Event

Accra:North Korea has emphasized its dedication to strengthening ties with Russia, describing the relationship as an "invincible" comradeship. This was announced during a diplomatic event, as reported by Pyongyang's state media.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the North Korean Embassy in Russia organized a reception last Tuesday to commemorate the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The event saw attendance from various Russian officials, including Alexander Kozlov, Russia's minister of natural resources and chair of the North Korea-Russia Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy and Science.

North Korean Ambassador to Russia, Sin Hong-chol, stated that the bilateral ties have reached unprecedented levels due to the genuine relationship established between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He noted that the leaders' meeting in 2024 elevated the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, advancing towards "invincible comradely-in-arms relations."

Kozlov responded by highlighting the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed between Kim and Putin in June 2024, which underscores the mutual commitment of Pyongyang and Moscow to "respect, trust, and common prosperity."

Additionally, North Korea and Russia signed a mutual defense treaty in 2024, which includes a clause for mutual military assistance in the event of an attack on either nation. Russian Ambassador to North Korea, Andrey Podelyshev, also hosted a reception to celebrate the 78th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, as noted in a separate report by the KCNA.
