Pyongyang: North Korea on Thursday condemned a recent United Nations resolution on human rights violations in the country, describing it as a "grave political provocation." The condemnation was voiced following the U.N. Human Rights Council's adoption of its annual resolution on the issue, a decision reached by consensus during its 61st regular session in Geneva. The resolution was co-sponsored by 50 countries, including South Korea.
According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea's foreign ministry expressed strong disapproval of the resolution. A statement released by the ministry and reported by the Korean Central News Agency emphasized that the act of adopting the resolution was perceived as a significant affront to the nation's dignity and sovereignty. The ministry spokesperson articulated that the resolution was met with the "strongest language" of condemnation from North Korea.
